The School for Youth Leadership has always been evolving to meet the discipleship and training needs of young Salvationists who seek to work in a church setting.
To meet the needs and aspirations of our young people, the school is now delivering a Certificate IV in Youth Work which is the industry standard for work in this area and a nationally accredited course from the community services training package. This also opens the door to gain qualifications in other areas of the community services training package.
Not only will students become qualified to work in a church setting, but graduates now have the qualifications required to work as community and youth workers, ministry assistants, youth pastors, school chaplains or any number of other options.
We are offering a TAFE standard qualification, with a Salvation Army mission and ministry focus. The school also provides an ideal training ground for young people to fully understand and work effectively in the diversity of the community in which we live. Our focus on discipleship and personal growth remains to equip young people to grow in their relationship with God and to discover their purpose and full potential in Christ.
The School for Youth Leadership is still on a journey with exciting days ahead.
Who can be involved? Our school is for any young person who may be contemplating what they will do when they finish school, or perhaps someone who is interested in a change of career, or someone who would like to become qualified in Youth or Community work. Applicants must be aged between 18 and 28.
