Shire Salvos

In 1957, a faithful group from Hurstville Salvation Army kicked off The Salvation Army in the Sutherland Shire - Miranda. This ministry boomed in those early days reaching many families with the life-transforming message of Jesus Christ. Since then, there have been other milestones along the way that has furthered the work of the Salvos in the Shire. In 1962 Engadine corps was established. In 1989 Menai corps started its journey, 2000 Cronulla plant commenced, which merged with Miranda in 2008. These are the early chapters of the Salvos in the Shire.

Over the last 18 months, a new chapter has commenced bringing a united approach to ministry in the Sutherland Shire. It is not an amalgamation, takeover or merger but a partnership to increase our effectiveness for the work of God in the Shire. Shire Salvos continues across its four locations - Menai, Miranda, Engadine, Helensburgh, each uniquely placed across the Shire and beyond. We want to see each growing and flourishing with new disciples and are able to share our best to see it happen.

Shire Salvos has already started to take shape a few areas - earlier this year a combined “Shire Salvos” website was launched; our social and welfare work is operating on a focused direction. And now, we unveil our latest additions - a united Newsletter and Social Media to streamline our communication internally and externally.

With this partnership called Shire Salvos, there may not be much change to the normal running of things, but behind the scenes, it will improve efficiencies and over time it will open up more opportunities to further the reach and work of the kingdom of God in the Sutherland Shire. Bring on new disciples!

Exciting days ahead for Shire Salvos!!

God Bless
Pete, Becky and Mark
