The Couch Project Classroom is a new initiative that aims to deliver youth homelessness education to 105,000 secondary school students by 2018. Why? 105,000 is the number of Australians experiencing homelessness on any given night and students have the power to give each one a voice.

To celebrate the launch of The Couch Project Classroom, Salvos Schools proudly presents Streets to stage, a Schools tour to feature young hip hop musicians who have overcome homelessness.

Offering a unique, empowering experience with a focus on homelessness, mental health, well-being and community, their past will be shared through their music and discussion facilitated by The Salvation Army will focus on their journey since overcoming homelessness as well as what students can do to become everyday community contributors.

When we visit schools, students always ask us how they can get involved. The Couch Project is a National fundraising, volunteering and advocacy campaign held on Friday, 16 September 2016 and is the perfect opportunity for students to get involved after our visit. Our hope is that we inspire each School to take action, whether big or small. A campaign pack will be provided to each school filled with ideas and resources for your students.

Artists will be announced on the 15th of February 2016. We're touring from the 25th of July to the 5th of August 2016. 10 days, over 12 assemblies and 6,000 students.

Registration for Streets to Stage closes on the 6th of May 2016.
