Get Connected Workshops

Loneliness and social isolation are associated with a range of poor mental, physical and socio-economic outcomes for people – these informal gatherings invite people from the community to attend when they feel they have no-where else to go.
When: TUESDAYS (fortnightly)

Times: These informal workshops commence at 9am, as there is information provided to the group we would really appreciate that clients arrive on time - thank you.

The purpose of these informal Get Connected workshops:

  • Provide an overview of who the Salvation Army is
  • Provide an overview of all the programs and services that are on offer at Oasis Wyong
  • Welcome all new volunteers who have already connected with Oasis Wyong
  • Explore opportunities for new Volunteers to enhance and grow our programs and services
  • Discuss work experience and work placement opportunities in our cafes, shop, administration, gardens, workshop
  • Showcase all our training programs and source enrolments for these programs
  • Explore different funding options for training courses for people in our community and look at the eligibility requirements
  • Identify what types of training programs people in our community need
  • Explain the Work Development Order program whereby people can pay off outstanding fines through training and volunteering
  • Provide community support to individuals on a needs basis with referrals to other providers in our area
