The Salvation Army in Australia
For over 130 years The Salvation Army has been offering care for Australians at every stage of life. Today, The Salvation Army is one of the largest providers of social services, material aid, crisis support, and disaster relief in Australia. Our services are as wide-ranging and diverse as the needs in our community. Through unique and effective partnerships with the Australian public, business community and government, we help to address many of Australia's greatest social problems. Over one million Australians are helped by The Salvation Army every year, clearly demonstrating the breadth of our services but more significantly reflecting the dedication of our staff and volunteers whose endeavours underpin this outcome.
Many people know us because of our timely and practical help in times of natural disasters and emergencies - such as floods, bushfires, cyclones and drought. However our services are as wide-ranging and diverse as the needs in our community and include: aged care; community support and welfare services; chaplaincies (including hospital, court and prison, defence forces) ; counselling services; crisis and accommodation support; drug, alcohol and gambling addiction rehabilitation; emergency/disaster services; family support services; rural and outback support.
