About their Support
Virgin Active has been actively supporting Oasis with donations, fundraising, volunteering and in-kind support since 2010.
Virgin Active were looking for an opportunity to support youth at-risk and decided to create a multi-purpose fitness centre within Oasis; making it accessible to young people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable personal circumstances. It was intended to provide a pathway to alternative choices leading to a healthy and positive lifestyle decision-making.
Sir Richard Branson visited the service to meet some of the young people participating in the Champions Youth Leadership program and officially opened the fitness centre in July 2010 while he was there. Since then, Virgin Active have remained intimately involved with the centre; giving the young people access to a personal trainer fortnightly and monthly classes at the Virgin Active Gym in Pitt St. They have also provided encouragement and additional training support in the lead up to events like the Mud Run and City2Surf for young people interested in participating.
Constantly creating new and fun ways for customers to get involved with supporting Oasis, Virgin Active has held several fundraising events including Lycra like you Care, Tour de Oasis, Zuu and even broke a world record with Pedal to the Medal.
Virgin Active also donates clothing, gym memberships for fitness events and as an auction item for the Annual Oasis Charity Ball. Every year, in collaboration with the other Virgin companies, Virgin Mobile help host the Christmas Party for the young people on site at Oasis.
