Trauma Informed Care

Trauma Informed Care

Oasis’ service provision across its entire network is founded on the evidenced-based principles of Trauma Informed Care and Practice – a model of therapeutic care which acknowledges the impact of severe, prolonged and repeated trauma on the neurobiological, psychological, emotional and behavioural functioning of the young people who access support at the service.

Trauma Informed Care and Practice promotes safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration and empowerment in all interactions. Through a focus on the development of safe relationships and safe coping strategies, Oasis and the Trauma Informed Care and Practice model work to restore choice and control to the lives of young people.
