The role of Oasis Chaplains is quite broad and varied with its emphasis on offering practical, emotional and spiritual support to young people.
Oasis Chaplains run a coffee service and street patrols in the inner city area, making contact with young people living on the street. Chaplains build relationships and provide information for counselling, alcohol/drug rehabilitation, legal assistance and accommodation. Chaplains offer pastoral care and support with prison visits, hospital visits, court support, appointments, or wherever else there is need.
With an invitation, Chaplains can assist young people in the journey of exploring beliefs about God, faith and spirituality. They are someone who’s available to chat about life and pray with young people and staff. Chaplains can also provide links to local churches and the programs that they run.
Chaplains also run a regular street outreach to connect with young people living on the street. They build positive and meaningful relationships and provide information, assistance and referrals to Oasis and other services.
