Working with Children Checks

There have been changes to NSW Working with Children Checks (WWCC) that will affect some of our volunteer programs.

A valid WWCC is a legal requirement for all volunteers who will be interacting with young people on a semi-regular basis and will be assessed at the time of the initial booking.

The WWCC can be obtained free of charge for volunteers here and is valid for up to five years and is applicable for any organisation.

The process involves:

  • Registering online for a Working With Children Check
  • Proof of Identity to be carried out at your local motor registry or council agency
  • Verification to be forwarded to Oasis prior to participating in volunteering

Age Restrictions:

Many of the young people who access Oasis have experienced complex trauma, and may be experiencing mental health or alcohol and drug issues. The physical, mental and emotional safety of our volunteers, young people and staff are our key priorities.

For this reason, we recommend volunteers be at least 18 years of age (if accompanied by a parent or adult), otherwise we strongly recommend volunteers be 21 years or older.
