The Salvation Army will continue to focus on delivering high quality social services and welfare programs following its withdrawal from providing foster care services.
Since being awarded a NSW Department of Family and Community Services (FaCs) contract to provide foster care services in 2012, The Salvation Army has provided out of home care for vulnerable and at risk children across NSW through its Young Hope program.
After a comprehensive internal review which considered the long-term viability of some programs and examined external alternatives, the decision was made to conclude our service. The Salvation Army worked closely with FaCS to seamlessly transfer the Young Hope foster carers, children and young people prior to June 2016.
The Salvation Army expresses its sincere appreciation to all staff for their outstanding service to the Young Hope program.
