Service Learning Projects

What is a service learning project?

A service learning project is designed to encourage Junior Soldiers to think about creative ways they can use their skills and talents to help make our community a better place. This is done by coming up with an organised community activity that is used to serve the community. For example making muffins, and handing them out free of charge to people in the community and telling people “here is a free gift for you because we want to make you smile and share God’s love with you”.

What to do

You are to form a group with other Junior Soldiers. Preferably two to three people. Ask God to give you an idea on how you can do something to make the world a better place.

You will have a parent/mentor working with you but it is your responsibility to work together on this project.

  1. Need to arrange what service learning project you would like to work on. One example could be make muffins and hand them out to people simply to make people smile and remind them of the love of God.
  2. Need to carry out the service learning project (in your Junior Soldier uniform) and take photos of you involved in the activity.
  3. Need to sit with your mentor/parent and reflect on your experience of the service learning project.
  4. Then present back to the group in any creative way on your experience and what happened.

Deadline: You have until three weeks until the end of the school holidays Oct 7th to complete this project.
