Salvos 101

What is The Salvation Army? What do you guys do? What's with the uniforms? Which church are you part of? Where did the brass bands come from? What are those tambourine-thingys called?

Have you got a question about The Salvation Army? We realise that from the outside looking in it can get a bit confusing. When you've been around since 1865, we reckon that's understandable.

Information booklet

Our Information Booklet is an introduction to the history, culture and work of The Salvation Army. You can check it out using the PDF viewer at the top of the page.

If you're after some general knowledge about the Salvos then it's a great place to start.

We know that students are sometimes given assigments at school to research charities and churches, and the booklet has been put together especially with you in mind.

It's also particularly useful for people who are new to The Salvation Army or who simply want to find out a bit about us.

Don't forget to check out the Our History section of this site for a more in-depth look at the Salvos throughout history as well.
