Statement in Relation to Media Reports on the Sale of Rags by Salvos Stores

13 February 2013

The Salvation Army, as part of sound and responsible financial management, continually reviews arrangements and procedures to maintain transparency while also maximising the efficiency and value it receives from external contractors.

In November 2012, based on this review process, The Salvation Army initiated a new tender process regarding the sale of rags from Salvos Stores. Salvos Stores contributes around $10 million annually to the work of The Salvation Army and is an integral part of the organisation.
