Overview of the Mission

Human traffic is sadly a growing issue around the world.

During 2010 South Africa is expecting 350,000 visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2010. It is expected too that this will generate thousands of jobs and will boost the economy of the country.

On the downside, schools will cease activities for the entire month of the World Cup, and with so many visitors, there will be a much greater risk for children to be trafficked.

The Salvation Army Southern Africa Territory has identified the FIFA World Cup as a great opportunity for prevention of Human traffic and evangelism.

Objectives

  • To fight human trafficking
  • To protect minors
  • To evangelise visitors and locals

Strategies

The entire mission involves many areas but the focus of the Australia Eastern Territory support will be on:

  • Kid’s clubs: Much like “Sunday Schools”, require funding for materials and feeding program
  • Soccer clinics: These equire funding for sports equipment
