Jenny and I go back a long way, to the Manly Congregational Church, where my wife and I taught her in Sunday School and then 14 years ago when we came to the Central Coast, she worked for us in our cinema business for some time. We still keep in touch now we are retired, and it's so great to see how well she has developed into such a lovely Christian person.

As a result of this year's Self Denial Appeal, our Corps., Docaster, in Victoria, have decided to financially assist the Begoro Rehabilitation Centre. One of our memebers intends visiting Ghana and Begoro in August 2012. In the mean-time, is it possible to take out a yearly sponsorship specifically relating to theBegoro Centre ($300) with you? I notice from a recent report, that you intend to support Begoro over the next three years. I can go through the Southern Division, unless you have exclusive rights to Begoro!!
Keep up the good work. I await your response with the hope of being able to assist the Begoro Centre.
Regards, John Smith.

I read your letter and want to tell you I know of someone who did not want to live any more. But through prayer to God the father, He intervened. Today that beautiful person is such a blessing to others and such a joy to the Lord. I am so glad you are alive and you have such a nice smile. God will not forsake the righteous. Even if you are disabled, remember, you can still praise your Creator, and Heavenly Father, you can also have faith which pleases him. As Christians we are also encouraged to call things that be not as though they were.
Can you see how God is using you to encourage even an old woman like me? Never give up on Jesus - He LOVES you. I pray you will have a very fulfilled life and that your story can bring hope to many. God bless you and keep you, God make His face to shine upon you and give you great joy and peace. (I do sponsor some Salvation Army children and it brings me joy to know that sponsors can make a difference).

I get letters from my sponsored child in Ghana and it is always a joy and brings tears to my eyes as a mixture of emotions in love and gratitude resonates from her words to my being. If we are in a position to give what little we have to make someone else's life a joy then it makes us grow and progress to a higher vision of life and it is a gift of love.I have been a sponsoring parent now for a year and I am happy that I can help. But the most happiness I get is when I open my sponsored child's letter knowing that she is grateful for the little I offer every month.

The Salvation Army sincerely appreciates your interest in assisting the people of Haiti. At this point in time our emergency teams are in need of cash donations to allow them to target resources to those in most need. In our experience with numerous disasters over the years, it is often costly and logistically difficult to get second hand goods into a country. For example, the cost of just one Jumper to Korea has cost the Office $19 in postage. Also when sending large donations, such as 600-900 shirts there is also importing costs associated with the pick up of goods and many times customs charges are required. This has often resulted in the Salvation Army simply not having the finance to pick up the goods at the other end. For this reason, we are not accepting physical or material donations but ask for cash donations so we can focus on meeting the most pressing human needs without discrimination. A great way to support Haiti could be a school mufti day, where each student brings in a gold coin and that money can be donated to the Haiti disaster response. We genuinely appreciate your interest and encourage you to contact us for further information should you be willing to fundraise for the Haiti Emergency Appeal.

As we have a new uniform, we have no need or use for the previously worn polo shirts. Our school has approximately 300 students and most students have 2 or 3 shirts which could be donated to the school in St Martin. Would you be interested in this type of donation?
