How refreshing it was to join in fellowship with the Maitland Corps family last weekend in giving thanks to God for His constant provision. It was their annual Harvest Festival weekend. The Songsters arrived in Maitland on Saturday afternoon giving thanks for safe travel through the dramatic rainfall that accompanied the journey up the freeway. After a time of fellowship over a sausage sandwich, the locals and the visiting vocalists joined in a vibrant evening of praise. From the classical ‘Alleluia’ through the reflective ‘He Will Carry Me’ and the toe-tapping ‘How Can I Thank You Enough?’, and much more, there was an atmosphere of sincere thanksgiving and worship. Our focus was heightened because of the amazing Harvest display depicting the diverse agriculture of the area – all God’s handiwork! Early Sunday morning found the Songsters at a local aged care facility where many blessings were shared through the singing of favourite hymns, sharing Psalm 23 and the contributions of the Songsters. Our morning worship back at the Corps was again themed on ‘giving thanks’ and we thank Major Daphne for leading us through this time of worship and in presenting the gospel message so clearly. Hearts were moved and much prayer shared. A special moment that focused our thinking was the sensitive solo presentation of ‘How Can I Say Thanks?’ with acoustic guitar accompaniment. A number of the Songsters had extra responsibilities over the weekend - with solo/duet contributions, spoken testimony and God’s Word shared. All came together so well that we know the Lord was able to use this ministry weekend. We also appreciate the efforts of our hard-working keyboard and rhythm section which faithfully and sensitively supports the singing of the Songsters each week. We’re blessed to have sincere, committed leadership – thank you Nicola and Elwyn for helping us to sing as well as we can and the Songster Executive Team for looking after the details that resulted in our mission to Maitland running smoothly and effectively – Thank You Lord!
