I’ve been reading the Bible book of Chronicles lately, and came across this amazing verse I want to share with you.

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him."
2 Chronicles 16:9

God is seeking hearts that are hungry for Him. More than talent, ability, possessions or wealth, He looks for those whose hearts are His, above all else.

Hearts that are surrendered, committed, faithful, obedient. May our hearts hunger for Him today. May He not pass us by as His eyes "range throughout the earth". Our God is wonderful. He loves us so. And He promises to strengthen us—comfort, help, enable, refresh us.

Dear Lord, see our hearts committed to You as we worship You today, and please strengthen us. Thank you for loving us so. Amen.

ANZAC Day - Supporting our Community

Alarm clocks sounded in the early hours in many of our homes on ANZAC Day to enable our Citadel Band to meet at 3.50 am at Parramatta RSL. They led the march to and from the Cenotaph in Prince Alfred Park, and provided musical support for the Dawn Service at the Cenotaph.

Warren Freeman spoke at the Dawn Service at Wentworthville RSL, and Dorothy Griffin assisted at this Service.

Following breakfast provided by Parramatta RSL, our Citadel Band was joined by timbrellists to support the ANZAC March in Sydney CBD. Major Alwyn Robinson, Bandmaster Graham Ainsworth and CSM John Acocks headed the march, together with flag-bearers George Sanders, Christine Plumridge and Edwin Spindler. Our gorgeous young ladies with their smiling faces and timbrel expertise drew the crowd’s attention, and we thank them for their willing contribution.

In the afternoon, Bandsmen assisted in the ANZAC Service at Glenore RSL. The service of our Band on ANZAC Day is quite demanding in many ways, and we acknowledge and appreciate this service.

We were well represented by everyone who helped to commemorate ANZAC Day, and we appreciate their willingness to support our community.

Our ANZAC Day marchers tell of people from the crowds lining the streets who shouted their support of the Salvos. We are privileged to have such community support. We are glad to be able to support the organisers of ANZAC events both locally and in the city.

This weeks message from Major Alwyn

As this coming Wednesday is ANZAC Day, in our morning Worship Service today we’ll be holding a short ANZAC Remembrance ceremony. ANZAC Day is a day of honour. A proud day for our nation. We remember those who gave their lives defending our freedom. We march. We pay homage. We pause in silence. We remember them. Lest we forget.

Giving your life for the sake of others is called the ultimate sacrifice. The Lord Jesus Christ gave Himself in the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of us. He died for us that we might have freedom - freedom from sin, from guilt, and ultimately from death itself. As we remember those who have fallen for our nation’s freedom, we also remember Jesus who died for our ultimate freedom.

God be with you always,

Wednesday 25 April - ANZAC Day

On ANZAC Day, our Citadel Band will lead the march from Parramatta RSL Club to the Cenotaph in Prince Alfred Park and provide music for the Dawn Service there.

By 9am they will be in Sydney CBD, together with a group of our timbrellists, to take part in the ANZAC Day march there.

Thank you to everyone who contributes to our community through our involvement in ANZAC Day commemoration. It is very much valued.

Who: Ladies, Women, Daughters & Girls of any age.

When: Saturday 28 April, 2pm

Where: Starting and finishing at Neild Park, Henly Marine Dr. Rodd Point heading in an anti-clockwise direction. (Street parking available in the surrounding streets of Neild Park).

Bring: Walking/running shoes, a chair if you'd like to sit and relax, water, small amount of money if you'd like to purchase coffee or drinks from Neild Park Pavillion Cafe (cash only) after the walk.

The Bay Walk is one of the most popular harbourside tracks in Sydney. It is a flat, 7km pram friendly walk which rarely deviates from the water. You may wish to run (45 mins), power walk (1hr), or stroll and chat (up to 2 hrs), or you may prefer to sit and relax in the park, so many options.

Jesus says in John 11:25: I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die”.

May Jesus bring resurrection into your life, not just in eternity, but today! May the passion to know, love and serve Him be resurrected in you, today. May the joy of life be resurrected in you, today.

What are the Lords good promises given to you?

In my personal time of devotions I have been reading the book of Joshua and towards the end we read how the Israelite nation finally take possession of the land the Lord had promised their forefathers and how they finally had rest.

Joshua 21:43-45 reads: So the LORD gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there. The LORD gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the LORD gave all their enemies into their hands. Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

Today I ask you: what are the Lords good promises given to you? We praise God each time we witness the promise fulfilled. We are privileged to bear witness to God and his faithful fulfilling of His promise. There are times however, where, just like the forefathers of the Israelites, we may never actually witness the promise fulfilled.

Know this friends, 'Not one of all the LORD's good promises to Israel failed..." perhaps we will live to see them fulfilled perhaps not, but as a people of faith we live believing that our God is Faithful and He will keep His promises. Hallelujah.
