How to Help

About Us

Oasis is The Salvation Army's response to youth homelessness, touching hundreds of shattered young lives every day.

Our mission states:

Oasis cannot effectively undertake this work until young people are off the streets and in a safe and stable environment. That’s whay on any given night, Oasis helps to accommodate and feed more than 100 homeless young people.

Many of the young people we support have suffered physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and without a family support system, often turn to drugs and alcohol for relief from their troubles and to ‘dull the pain’ of their past.

Oasis strives to give disadvantaged young people hope, by providing access to essential counselling, drug/alcohol programs, education, job training and employment services including:

  • Nokia StreetConnect technology outreach bus
  • Case management and counseling services
  • Training and employment assistance
  • Oasis Education (fully accredited)
  • StreetMedia multimedia training (film, music, radio and IT training)
  • Outdoor adventure therapy/ health & fitness training
  • Young parents support group
  • Driver training

Participants learn the skills needed to rebuild their lives and develop their self-confidence and employability.

We face significant challenges in our work, with increasing demand for our services and rising costs, even maintaining our existing programs is a struggle.
