How to Help

Oasis is committed to ensuring we provide a positive experience for all our dedicated volunteers.

In order for us to do this we look for passionate, skilled and committed people and match them to specific volunteering opportunities.

Our current volunteer opportunities are listed below:

Crisis Accommodation Dinner Program
Due to overwhelming popularity of Sunday Night Dinner, we are now offering Sunday Night Dinner on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday nights! Volunteers are required to come to Oasis at 4:30pm and prepare a home style meal with our residents. Make sure you get in quick to secure a spot before the end of year!

The Surry Hills Education Centre and Transitional Accommodation Program is looking for Tutors in a range of fields to help students with their studies. You might be a teacher or an expert in English or perhaps a Physics student and have an hour once a week to spare. If you would like to know more about how you can help, drop us an email!

Christmas Drivers
Got some time on your hands? We are always on the hunt for casual drivers who can lend a car and a hand on ad hoc occasions to assist us with pickups and drop offs of donations within the inner city area. To register your interest hit reply now!

Christmas Day Lunch
Streetlevel, once again, are putting on a HUGE Christmas Day lunch. If you would like to become involved with this very special event please contact Monica Jong.

Driving 4 Life Program
The Driving 4 Employment, Education and Life program sees volunteers work alongside young people to help the gain the 120 supervised driving hours required to obtain their P plates. In this volunteer/mentor role you will require a full and valid NSW drivers licence and need to attend specific program related training.

Changes to NSW Working With Children’s Check
There have been some recent changes to NSW Working with Children Checks (WWCC) that will affect our volunteer programs. A valid WWCC is a legal requirement for all volunteers and employees of the Salvation Army. To find out how these changes affect you, and how to obtain your WWCC please click here.
