My friend Caitlin inspires me so much! Recently we were talking about God and our lives since we chose to live for God. She said some things that really spoke to me and I think it's important to share with you all. I got all the words from our conversation and put it all together. She is so passionate with everything she talks about!

Recently, I have been thinking back to when I became enrolled as a solider. I didn't attend church when I was growing up – I may have gone to church a few times when I was little. BUT I did believe that God existed, that there was only one God, and he could do anything he wanted to. I believed he knew all, saw all, and heard all. So I went on with life and lived with this kind of belief about God.

Since I started going to Brisbane City Temple, I have been an assistant leader for Sunbeams in SAGALA and have become a member of the Songsters’ brigade. But most importantly, I have become closer to God.

I wish I’d grown up having a relationship with God like I have now! But I know that God was still with me back then even if I didn’t know it at the time. I cannot believe it was only last year that I was enrolled.

I began a new part of my journey with a God who will not leave me or forsake me.

Changes can be challenging and are a true test of your faith. God allows them to happen because he wants to make a change in us, to move us forward in our journey with no uncertainties. When I was a kid I didn’t have a lot of uncertainties because my mum was always there. When I woke up, she was there. When I wanted breakfast, she was there. When I needed a bath or wanted more breakfast, she was there. When I wanted my hair combed, or I wanted to play in the yard, she was there. I think God is a lot like that.

He just wants us to be with him. When we wake up, he’s there. When we go to school or work, he’s there. Whatever we decide to do, he just wants to be with us. It’s our choice a lot of the time, and I think that’s what brings on uncertainties. We have trouble understanding who God wants us to be.

But something we should also keep in mind, we don’t have to understand everything. If we did where would faith be? When it comes to honouring God with our lives, this is a really big deal. We have the opportunity to make a choice and a difference. Life is about making choices and God has given me a choice. He gave me that choice when he sent his son to earth to die for my sins. You know a really great song I think describes my enrolment experience is I Choose Life – The Singing Company. It’s based on Deuteronomy 30:19-20. Awesome song!

Now that I have made the choice to become enrolled, I have found it is important to be myself. I need to do what I can with what I have and leave the results up to God. No matter what happens I know God will help me to keep pushing onward. I know I would not be the same if not for my love for God. He is my way, my truth and my life!
