Fashion bargains at Big Exo Day

This year the Salvos are back in force at Big Exo Day with the Mega Op Shop! Esther Pinn had a chat with Nath Moulds to find out what this year’s store will look like!

If you’re looking for a bargain, then the Salvos Stores tent is the place to look at The Big Exo Day this year.

After the success of last year, raising over $10,000, Nath Moulds is excited for what this year will bring.

“Last year there were about 30-40 kids lined up outside all day. We have a bigger space this year so we might not have such a big line but I expect to still see large crowds come through all day,” he says.

“Last year we raised about $10,000 and ideally we like to raise a similar amount this year.”

Nath is also confident that there will be some great brand lables at bargain prices this year.

"We’ve had a lot of stuff donated here at Surry Hills [Streetlevel]. So young people will be able to pick up stuff that’s aimed at them. So we've get items like ksubi jeans, leather jackets and retro vintage wear – plenty of dresses, jeans, shirts, sunnies, shorts. And some of this stuff would usually be $100 but we are selling it for $8-10."

While Nath is pumped about the items they are selling and how many people they will see come through the tent, he is even more excited about spreading the Exo message that life is abundant.

"The Big Exo Day is all about promoting a message of life is excellent. And that it’s not found in drugs or alcohol but in Jesus," explains Nath.

"They [The Big Exo Day] also show a great culture there that defines the youth through different bands such as techno or rap or hiphop, arts, craft, photography, art – they cater for all sectors of youth culture but keep the one message that life is abundant.

"I thought the Salvos could help represent this same message and culture through Salvos Stores. And I thought we would really fit with the message that life is excellent. Also thought we could engage young people with our mission. It’s an opportunity to buy some cool stuff as well as engage with The Salvation Army."
