I'd like to tell you a story of what happened Saturday evening, 12 March that changed my life forever.
I went to the Newcastle and Central Coast Divisional Youth Rally held at Wyong Oasis Centre. I didn't go expecting anything but God's plan for my life was shown to me in an instant and profound way.
I met friends from old ... strangers from distant lands (Yes, I just quoted Lord Elrond from The Lord of the Rings). I sat up the front for most of the worship time at the youth rally as I normally do and I let myself well, get bored. So I went down and sat in the back row with three guys who were laughing and not paying attention to the speaker, Lieutenant-Colonel Miriam Gluyas. She spoke about the lyrics, "we want a near revival" in the song, Hosanna by Hillsong.
She explained that we, the youth are the back bone of the church. I saw my friends who are attending The School For Leadership College this year and it dawned on me and that I have been trying and trying to save for the 2011 school year and it was not God's plan for me. And then it hit me, like a truckload tonne of bricks – it kind of smacked me in the face, a wake-up call saying, "YOU HAVE TO DO THIS NOW! YOU HAVE BUT ONE CHANCE".
Suddenly I felt energised – more powerful than those Monster Hitman Energy Drinks or ANY energy drinks for that matter. I was literally bouncing up and down with joy and bouncing off walls with energy because (and now here it is ladies and gentlemen) God wants me to be a Salvation Army Officer.
So I gave my email address and mobile number (those of you who were there found out that the average iPhone doesn't bounce on concrete ... the screen just shatters) to Captain Jacob Robinson, the Divisional Youth Secretary for Newcastle and Central Coast Division. I now have an appointment in Newcastle for the Divisional Candidacy for Officership Training College starting 2012.
