EVERMORE, a New Zealand band comprised of three brothers Jon, Peter and Dann Hume, will be headlining at the Big Exo Day on Saturday, 18 September. Peter (above, on your right) who plays bass, keyboard and vocals, took the time to answer a few questions about The Big Exo Day, charity work and teenage struggles.
It's a great event. Plus I hear there's a Salvos tent, so I'll be looking for an Op-shop bargain.
We're really looking forward to it. We've been cooped up in the studio these last few months so it'll be great to shake the dust off with a bit of rock'n'roll. These songs have been pretty well travelled the last couple of years. The show's really developed into something that has a momentum of its own. Expect sing-alongs ringing through the Homebush air.
Music has a way of expressing things you're going through that no-one's talking about. I think when you're finding your feet in the world it can feel like you're somehow weird, different. I remember diving into albums as a teenager, getting lost in someone else's world. It's kind of a relief to know you're not the only one struggling to make sense of it all.
It seems like everybody has to have everything together these days. You need to have good grades, loaded parents, heaps of spare time, be in the IT group, and feel guilty about everything (environment/ poverty). There doesn't seem like much room for being happy and comfortable in your own skin.
Why should people get involved? Apart from the obvious reasons, you meet really cool people, and you get to feel a part of something bigger that's actually changing things for the better.
We've got a lot of things on the burner but the main thing is to get the next album completed and out. We tried giving ourselves an enforced break, but music is what we do and I don't know if we're very well adjusted to life without it.

That was really well said, and I bet a lot of young guys who read that will relate. Great interview, guys.
wow yeah im 15 in year 10 and the pressure from everyone is just sooo uch i am so glad that i have god in my life because i wouldn't know what i'd do without having him... i feel sorry for everyone who doesn't know god but yet needs him....
anyway that was a good article...
I saw you guys at Big Exo Day and really, I guess, it was sort of the first time I acknowledged you and was just soooo touched. I agree that sometimes you can listen to music and just get lost in it. All your troubles leave and it's just a great time to get lost but also connect with God.
You guys are soooo amazing. God has given you such an amazing talent so just keep using it to the best of your ability. YOU ROCK!!!!!
I love evermore and found this site. you wrote in this acticle that Peter talked to you guys? you also said that his the one in the middle well no that was dann and peter was on the right.
Hey Ashleigh,
Thanks for your comment. I have changed it to make it more clear as when it was written, the writer meant the "middle aged brother" rather than the "middle brother" in the picture. But thanks for letting us know so we can now make it more clearer for our readers.
Cheers!
