Well, the first evening of the World Youth Convention in Stockholm, Sweden is over! Here are some thoughts from our delegation:
The diversity of uniforms and languages and ways of worship is so exciting. It reminds me that The Salvation Army is so much bigger than us. I was blessed to worship and pray alongside my brothers and sisters from another part of the world.
- Rachael McMurray
The General preached on the question of, "Who is worthy to stand before the Holy God?" as posed in Psalm 24. In response to this, he reminded us that it is our responsibility to ensure that we each have clean hands and a pure heart. At an international convention such as this, it is unmistakably apparent that we are a unified Army of people. But an Army is made up of individual soldiers, and it's the responsibility of each soldier to ensure that we do our part in asking God to cleanse and purify us. God will not fail to do His part in anointing and empowering His Army. So too, we must be diligent in doing our part. Let us be diligent in doing our part.
- Nicola Poore
It was out of obedience rather than willingness that I went to the mercy seat and it was there that God confirmed that he doesn't want me to be like any other Salvationist. Rather, he wants me to worship and serve him in my way, and that I have a place in his kingdom that no-one else can fill.
- Elise Phillips
