There's more to life than the HSC

22nd June 2010 by Claire Hill

To anyone who's currently in year 12 - I encourage you to check out this Christian website about year 12 survival. It contains:

  • study tips
  • a downloadable weekly study planner
  • testimonies from last year's year 12 students
  • information about HSC study conferences

and more!

It's part of a broader website called fervr.

Worth checking out!

Bless you heaps,

Claire

The HSC is not the be all and end all!

The HSC is a test that is given to see what you have learnt at school. Either over 13 or 14 years. (Depends if you repeat a year and there is no problem with that). One thing that is hard to grasp in year 12 is that LIFE GOES ON! There is no one mentioned in the Bible who gained their HSC! Even Jesus didn't go to Highschool or University.

The greatest commandment that Jesus gave us is 'Go and make disciples'. Not to get 100% in your HSC.

I am not trying to put down the HSC - I have great respect for those who ace it. When I went to school - A LONG time ago, we have a guy in my year who went from year 5 to year 7, then year 9 to year 11. He did his HSC and was dux of the school. Will this get him into heaven? No. I voluntarily repeated year 11 due to ill health and I missed a lot of schooling the first time round. I got my HSC but will this get me into heaven? No!

I now 'work' as a Salvation Army officer and I absolutely love the fact that I get to work with and help people everyday.

Not doing fabulously well in your HSC will hurt but remember that God is there to support you and that it isn't the end of your life. No matter what score you get, it is the beginning of a new era in your life. EMBRACE IT!
