Victorious Living

The Question

Have you ever wondered what life is all about? I was at a camp on the weekend that was helping young guys discover all about becoming men. Now ladies, don't switch off this can be for you too, just stick with me.

One of the speakers was asking the question, 'What is life all about?'

He went on to say that many people want to live a life that is successful, fun, and victorious coupled with a desire to have and experience it all. If I sit back and really think about it, then yeah, I do want to be successful. I do want to have it all. And I do want to live a victorious life.

The Challenge

The challenge then came, well, be prepared to fight for it. Life is not easy. I'm sure you have you own scars from life. But if you want to be victorious you need to fight for it!

Be prepared to walk with God and fight the battles that come. If your battle is sexual temptation, then you might need to put boundaries in place and ask someone to keep you accountable. And it might involve a period of discipline to overcome the struggle but you will emerge on the other side victorious.

Or, your battle may be because you have a negative picture of yourself you mistreat your body through self harm or not eating. To overcome this you may need to use self talk on how God sees you. You may need to change your thinking with help from loved ones, friends, or your youth leader. It may help to talk with a counsellor.

The Power

Whatever it is we need to overcome to be victorious, Christ gives us the strength we need. Philippians 4:13 says "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

So I'm taking up the challenge. I'm going to fight my battles so that I can rise up in God's strength and say I am victorious.

If we continue to keep our hands in our pockets and not do what is within our power to do and not ask God for help, we will never see our victory.

The Choice

It's your choice and all you need to do is ask.

Will you live a life of defeat in your own strength and power, or will you live victorious in Jesus' power and strength?

 Till next time,

In the pursuit of victory...
