Last night I was out lying in a hammock on our back porch looking up to the stars. And I was overcome by the enormity of the universe; the stars, the planets the endlessness of space and how all of creation came into because God spoke.
I've recently been on holidays and I was camping away from civilisation in the bush and to look up and see such a beautiful sight was amazing. I felt overwhelmed because the God who created it all loves me.
As I was lying in the hammock tonight I felt that God was declaring his love for me. It was as if he was saying 'count all the stars in the sky. Each star represents each thought God has of me.
I was reminded of the song 'oh how he loves us', by Jesus Culture. The chorus simply goes 'oh how he loves us, oh how he loves.' Check out the link to hear the song
I felt like God was calling me his own son. I was overcome by the love God has for me. He loves me no matter what I do, no matter what I say, no matter where I go, whether I am alone or with a crowd. He loves me regardless.
The apostle Paul was convinced of this as well. In Romans he wrote...
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither heights nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Rom 8:38-39
This is what the world needs to hear. In love he created the world. In love he gave his son on the cross. In love he raised Jesus from the dead. In love he chose me and you and adopted us as his children. Indeed nothing can separate us from the love of God.
I don't know how it makes you feel to know that you are loved. I just know that many people today need to know the love of God. If you have never experienced God's love before ask him to show you.
He is waiting and wanting to lavish his love on you.
Next time you get the chance go outside at night and look up at the stars. Try and count each of them. Maybe even grab a copy of the song 'how he loves' and go and reflect on the love God has for you.
I'd really like to hear about journey with God. Why not share when or how you have seen or felt the love of God in your life? Leave your thoughts here.
Till next time.
