Hey, my name is Joe, and now I get the incredible privilege of telling you how God has changed my life!
My journey with God has been like a tug of war. I have no memory of it, but I first gave my life to God when I was just five years old. I responded to an altar call without my parents even noticing! :P
From a very early age, I was in church and I knew all the right things to say and do, but to be honest, my heart just wasn't in it.
As I got older, I got sick of the whole church thing; it just seemed dry and lifeless. Deep inside me, I wanted something deeper, and I knew there had to be something more out there. As for God, I just couldn't see him, and honestly, I wasn't interested.
As I moved into my teenage years, I even began to resent church - all it did was make me different from everyone else. I dreamed of the day my parents would finally let me leave church. I moved further and further away from God and my church.
But one day in early 2006, everything changed. My life was turned on its head, in a completely cool way. I went to a Planetshakers conference. I really only expected a few concerts and some cool lighting, but I got so much more than that.
God broke into my life in a real and undeniable way. For the first time it was more than a bunch of nice stories some little, old, grey-haired lady had told me in Sunday school. This was a live encounter with the awesome, universe-making God! I was face to face with my Creator. All the barriers and excuses that I'd put into place just faded away. I felt alive in a way I've never felt before!
Since then, God's changed my life in so many ways. He's placed so many incredible men and women of God in my life to inspire and encourage me. He's given me a fresh start, and has awesome plans in store for me. I just can't help but be excited when I think about it! =]
And this isn't just only for me. If you try to find God, he will find you, and give you the most exciting and incredible life possible. He has a fantastic plan for your life ... so check him out! =]

Good on you Joe. For the friendship we have shared at music camps and other events I always knew you as a true God loving man. You had a deep faith and it's nice to hear that your faith has been growing, by Gods continual nourishment. Your story was a real encouragement to me, reminding me that there comes a time when we all must take our own steps towards God, instead of the steps people tell us to take. Bless you Joe =] . Kodie
