I have started to lose my hair! Actually, it really started about three or four years ago but I've been in denial.
I now have a very nice horseshoe-shaped bald spot right on the back of my head. I've spent the last year really trying to get over it, and I've only just accepted that for the rest of my life I will never be able to grow long hair again.
Now before you start paying me out -- there is a story in the Bible about some youth who payed out a man of God about his baldness.
Read 2 Kings 2:23-24 for a crazy story!
Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. "Go away, baldy!" they chanted. "Go away, baldy!" Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled 42 of them.
I think the reality is that we boys care about what we look like as much as girls! (Well, almost.)
Although it's not talked about much, most of us struggle with our self image -- we think we're too skinny, too fat, too short, or maybe we're just not really, really ridiculously good looking!
I want to tell you that the "world's" view of beauty is warped and unrealistic! In fact, I'd go as far to say the world's view of beauty is all lies!
The negative image we sometimes have of ourselves is RUBBISH!
The truth is this:
Ephesians 2:10 -- We are God's masterpiece.
Genesis 1:27 -- God created human beings in his own image.
That's all that matters!
The good news is that it doesn't matter what we look like, and it doesn't matter what we've done -- if we turn to Jesus, we are part of his family!
This is a really quick look at self-image, if you are struggling with your self-image everyday please go talk to someone you trust, like your youth pastor / leader or corps officer.

Hi Nathan,
There were no comments yet so thought i would share some love.
To start off with YOU ROCK! I fully agree with you about the worlds view on beauty.
Unfortunately the world tells us what is beautiful and we accept this as just how it is.
If God wanted us to be fashionable he would have given us Gucci Shoes when we were created.
If God wanted us all to be really, really ridiculously good looking then he would have PHOTO SHOPPED us before he created us LOL
When we put God first none of these things matter. Because everything of this world if exactly that, of this world.
We have to stop worry about this world and start setting our eyes on the Holy Kingdom that awaits us.
Thanks for share your story it made my day.
I LOVE JESUS!
Bald is beautiful!
