Blind Artistry.

19th February 2010 by Shandri Brown

Works best for:

Teams of about 5. Have as many teams as you like but you will need blindfolds and rope for each team. Works best in a large room or gym.

Need:

  • A long piece of rope for each competing team. (You can get 10m long clotheslines at most bargain shops).
  • Blindfolds for each team member.
  • Some background music.

The game:

Split your group into teams. Have them stand together with their rope at their feet before they blindfold themselves. Make sure each team has plenty of floor space to amke their rope designs.

When everyone is ready tell the teams what you want them to make with their rope and give them a 3 minute time limit. You may ask them to make any kind of picture or scene outline on the floor with their rope and the team that comes the closest to being realistic wins points. Keep going with various rounds.

You may get them to make a rope outline of:

  • a cowboy
  • a boat
  • sydney opera house
  • a dog
  • the moon
  • a tree
  • a spaceship

Notes:

Don't forget to make sure there are no OH&S hazards that people will be impaled on as they are blindfolded.

Let them life their blindfolds to see each teams design after each round.

Keep hands low to the floor (that's where their rope is). This avoids those accidental gropes that can occur when a room of youth are blindfolded.
