serve- tara gaudron

1st February 2010

Over the last few years, I have had the opportunity of serving with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) as a full-time volunteer in Darwin, Australia. Over that time, I worked with indigenous communities and the local youth in Darwin.

In July last year, I attended a prayer and worship school in Kona, Hawaii. The aim of the school is to see the marriage of the prayer and missions movement. As a part of the school, we went on a three month outreach to encourage people in the prayer and missions.

I was part of a small team that travelled to Afghanistan. Afghanistan itself was a real eye-opener, and I saw some amazing things. It is quite sad, you always hear about the bad stuff in central Asia, but never the good.

We worked in a place of prayer and worship for half the time. Because of that, we did not even have to approach people to tell them about Jesu$; word just got out somehow! People were coming to our door asking for the ‘Good Book', and to watch "the J film". We also saw acts of healing after praying for people.

One of my highlights occurred on the first week we were there. We were coming against a lot of spiritual attacks and one of the boys on the team thought it might be linked to some horns on top of the house. We asked the house owner if we could take them down. He said ‘no'.

After a few minutes, he said: "Yes, but only if you give me a Good Book". The house owner was a local religious leader and he invited a few more of his religious leaders over to watch "the J film" and get a Good Book. So a Muslim religious leader traded off horns that brought bad spirits to the house for a book that was so amazing.

We also got to visit the nation of Tajikistan. I think the best thing I learnt on this outreach over the last few months is the power that prayer, worship and the living word of God has.

We also decided to declare the whole word of God aloud as a team and when we finished declaring it, we heard some amazing stuff about what happened in The Nation of Afghanistan that week.

God is so, so good and I have fallen in love with Afghanistan -- revival is starting to take place there. Over the last few years, serving has become a lifestyle to me and I have had the opportunity to travel to many places serving.

Next year I plan to travel back to Kona, Hawaii to do a house of prayer internship, so I can go back to Darwin and establish 24/7 house of prayer.
