I love Christmas! I love Christmas carols! I love the fact that people who don't normally go to church gather together at carols events all over the world to sing songs written in praise of our Great God.
Christmas for many of us is a hectic time. Christmas signals the end of another school year, the start of the summer holidays and a New Year approaches.
But for many of us it can be a difficult time of year. A time where we spend time with family and the sadly often times that relationships are strained. In spite of what we are facing, Christmas is ultimately a time to celebrate.
It is a season of Joy. Joy is described as ‘the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying' (dictionary.com). We can all celebrate with joy for we have a great reason to. As one of my favourite Christmas carol says ‘Joy to the world the Lord is come, let earth receive her king...'
We celebrate with joy because we know that Jesus has come to the world. This is good news worth celebrating. The fact that Jesus came to our world is not nearly as significant as to why.
"For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
-John 3:17
This is why we celebrate with joy. Because of Christmas we have Easter and because of Easter for those who believe we have eternal life; that to me is something worth celebrating... fa la la la la la la la la.
Merry Christmas everyone.
