grow- aaron reid

14th December 2009 by Julia Hosking

In late October to early November 2008, God gave my wife and me a trial that we had to go through. It was tough and I ended up losing all trust in God. I hated him so much for putting us through it. I was hurting for so long and blaming myself; I had no idea when the hurting was going to end.

It was at the 2009 Red Shield Appeal launch where I was asked to be the community speaker that I had a confirmation from God about my past. I felt that getting up and telling all these strangers about my past will give me peace, and an understanding that he will never leave me. Reading my life story reminded me of the "Footprints in the Sand" poem.

God continued to work in me over the next couple of weeks leading up to what would be the biggest weekend in my life so far, Youth Councils 2009 (YC09). Wow, what a weekend! God challenged me to grow more in him everyday.

He challenged me to be more honouring of him, more understanding, and more like him. It was on the last night of YC09 that I felt the presence of God like never before. Such a powerful moment! Wow, never in my life have I been moved so much! God told me to let go of what happened to my wife and me because it was now his burden. I gave it to him and bam, what an experience. I cried and cried for what felt like ages.

God can work so tremendously in our lives. I have now learnt to be fully trusting in him everyday. It is without a doubt one of the best things that I have ever done for God. I now pray to him before even making a decision, I praise him for each and every day, and I praise him for family and friends.

I am continually growing more and more in God everyday and I must say that I have never been on a bigger spiritual high. If God can use me and do amazing things through me, imagine what he could do for you!
