Random Christmas Stuff.

11th December 2009 by Julia Hosking

Looking for some help getting into the Christmas Spirit? Why not get out your santa hat, dress up like a nerd and have a good old ponder on some of this Random Christmas Stuff.

Quotes

"You can never truly enjoy Christmas until you can look up into the Father's face and tell him you have received his Christmas gift."
(John R. Rice)

Have you ever been reluctant to accept a Christmas gift? Can you truly enjoy a gift without accepting it? Have you accepted the Father's gift?

"God walked down the stairs of heaven with a Baby in his arms."
(Paul Scherer)

Ever imagined this? Remember, Jesus is God's son.

"Love came down at Christmas; love all lovely, love divine. Love was born at Christmas, stars and angels gave the sign."
(Christina Rossetti)

Who is Christ? God. Who is God? Love.

"The very purpose of Christ's coming into the world was that he might offer up his life as a sacrifice for the sins of men. He came to die. This is the heart of Christmas."
(Reverend Billy Graham)

Do you ever associate Christmas with Easter? Do you understand that they are deeply connected?

"This is Christmas: not the tinsel, not the giving and receiving, not even the carols, but the humble heart that receives anew the wondrous gift, the Christ."
(Frank McKibben)

What do you think Christmas is about? Adornments on a tree? Presents? Carolling? Sleighbells in the snow?

"When Christ entered our world, he didn't come to brighten our Decembers, but to transform our lives."
(Rich Miller)

Does Christmas merely create joy in your year? Or does Christ create joy in your life?

Scripture

"Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favour rests'."
(Luke 2:13-14 NIV)

How do you react when you hear that Christ was born? Do you praise God that the Saviour of the world came to earth and lived for you?

"But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus'."
(Luke 1:30-31 NIV)

What would it be like to "find favour with God"? Could you imagine giving birth to baby Jesus?

"But the angel said to [the shepherds], ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger'."
(Luke 2:10-12)

Could you imagine? A baby, in a smelly manger, is proclaimed "Christ the Lord..."

"On coming to the house, [the wise men] saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh."
(Matthew 2:11 NIV)

How do you respond to Christ at Christmas? Do you offer him your greatest and most valuable treasures?
