serve- blake cugley

19th October 2009 by Julia Hosking

At almost every church service or youth conference you attend, a group of people volunteer their time and effort to bring you that event. I'm often one of them.

I enjoy doing the sound and lighting for youth conferences and the many other Christian events around. For me, I enjoy doing this knowing that those who are attending are enjoying the worship, the preaching and are having a great time.

But the thing that makes me want to continue is seeing people I know becoming Christians for the first time; mainly at youth events where I've helped. For me, this is an amazing feeling and something I love seeing time and time again. I feel that this is where God is calling me, and I wish to continue to support these events.

There is always a consequence for helping out. The early mornings, late nights and opportunities missed, are all things that I could do without, but it's sometimes a price I don't mind paying if it means that the good news is spread into the lives of teenagers.

So, next time you're at a youth conference or any other Christian event, make sure you thank all the volunteers who help bring you these events - many of whom are your age. Without them, who knows what would happen to these events.

  1. Hi Blake,

People running around like yourself deserve a massive gold medal! I completely agree with you, Serving does come with sacrifice, which challenges one's attitude ' how much am I willing to pay for the kingdom?' Sounds like you have your commitment right as well as your faith! This will only build your character as well as your servant heart!

    Thank mate

    Jason

  2. I can relate to this very much Blake. I'm often found behind events in S/E QLD.
Although, as I found out on the weekend that it is just as important for us volunteers/ technical people/ caterers etc to participate in worship as well. It's very easy to get caught up in "Just one more tweak" or "There's a cue coming up".

    Take care.

  3. Hey Blake. Great testimony. I work in the soundroom at Taree Corps and I usually get talked into helping at Youth Councils and other events as well. It's good to know there's others out there in the same boat. We just have to remember that we need some time out to join in the worship, etc as well. Keep up the good work.
    Darcy.

  4. Hey Blake

  6. Hey Guys,

Is great to hear that theres a whole lot of people like me that give their time to God. No matter if you do the sound at your small church or at Congress or Other large event....it all means the same.

Just remember, keep focussed on the right reasons and enjoy it.

    Blake
