So it's one week since GAC finished, and chances are it's been a tough week of adjusting back to 'normal' life after a fantastic camp experience. I remember the first few weeks after camp always being a bit lonely, pretty boring, and overall just 'meh'.
Here's a few things I've learned along the way to help me keep going (and growing).
What impact did camp have on your life? How did you grow? What did you learn?
One of the best ways to sustain your camp experience is to keep talking about it. Tell your church, tell your family, and tell your school friends. By speaking it out you allow the stuff you learned to really cement itself inside you.
I've already heard one story of a guy who went home from camp and told his non-Christian girlfriend about the stuff that God did in his life - and now she wants to become a Christian too! If you think music camp is a buzz, you should try leading your friends to Jesus... nothing else compares!
Hands up if you've uttered the phrase "I'm bored" within the last week?
If you're struggling to find stuff to do, why not pull out your Bible? 1) it's something to do, 2) it's good for you, and 3) you might just read something that totally changes your life. You're bored already, so what have you got to lose? (Or if you're not into reading, find your own way to hang out with God!)
For me, hanging out with God when I feel bored rather than wandering aimlessly looking for something to do has been so helpful for my spiritual growth. It might just do the same for you.
So we all love the community feel of music camp - the supportive, caring and encouraging environment is really good for us!
While you might not be able to spend every day with 200 other Christians, you can recreate a music camp community on a small scale. Start gathering a few friends once or twice a week to encourage each other, share how life is going, be honest with each other, and pray.
Whether you're 13 or 30, starting a life group is something you can do. If you're after some more ideas on what you can do when you're together, check out our Introduction to LIFE resource.
