Tins of alpahabet soup or packets of alphabet noodles (one or two per team).
Split your group into several teams. Give each team some table space or a tray to work on and a couple of cans of alphabet soup, or for a less messy option, a packet of alphabet noodles. Each team must sift through the goo to spell words.
You can give points a number of ways:
- words of three letters
- words of four letters
- words with five or more letters
- Churches can give students high points for spelling spiritual words
- the biggest word gets a lot of points
- leaders' names get high points as well
They are given a time frame to do this (maybe 5 minutes or so). No swear words, foreign languages or body parts.
If you choose to give a prize to the winning group, why not give a humorous prize in theme with the challenge? Local $2 shops usually have cheap alphabet magnets, or make a spelling certificate that you can cermoniously present.
