Are you a ‘drive-thru' McDonalds ‘snacker' or are you a Christmas dinner eat till your sides almost split and you hope that no-one says anything funny because if you were to start laughing, you'd experience real pain and burst! Everything seems to be getting smaller and faster so that we can take less time doing things, to fit our busy lives.
Even McDonalds now has a mini snack wrap, what is up with that? Surely a snack wrap is already ‘snack' size but now you can take even less time eating one and go for the ‘mini' snack wrap. But does a ‘mini' snack wrap truly satisfy your hunger? Or does it just give you enough to keep going for a short time not a long time? You can be a ‘snacker' of the mini variety and be fooled into thinking you're Ok because for a moment or two you are not hungry and you can even be distracted enough to just keep on being a ‘snacker'.
Some of us only ever snack on the word of God too! And Satan loves to keep us distracted so that we never take the time to sit down and eat properly. To enjoy the meal, to share with others how good it is and to experience the satisfaction of being completely full. When it comes to the word of God we need to ‘PIG OUT'! No watching our waistline or worrying about our future ending up as a contestant on ‘The biggest loser'. We need to devour it, feast on it till we are so full that we can't help but let some out by sharing with others a verse or two which has deepened our faith, stretched us or challenged us.
I want to see ‘facebook' filled with Bible verses that you have been feasting on, answers to your prayers and updates on how the beauty of God's creation is impacting you. I want to see the youth of this whole territory give up being ‘snackers' and become ‘feasters', ( I'm pretty sure that ‘snackers' and ‘feasters' are not real words but they kinda sound OK and go together for the purpose of this blog),( sorry Mrs Edwards, my yr. 11 & 12 english teacher).
So go on, get out there and feast on the word of God. "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him." Psalm 34:8
