I don't know about you, but growing up in Australia can give you an unhealthy view of what is important in life.
Big house, 2 cars, boat, motorbike, round the world holidays, money, investments, more. more. more.
Do you know that when you get all this you feel so complete. Or should I say completly empty.
I sought after this in my own life and happiness was on it's way. Not the happiness that you felt when you bought the new car or new house, but real fulfilling happiness. It was just around the corner! At least that is what I was told. "Who told me that?" you ask. Well the TV, advertisement, my neighbourhood, my community, my country and the world, even myself... Well guess what? I searched and search, I bought and sold... Maybe it was not the right car or house...
Well after all the searching I was very disheartened, and in the quietness of discontent, God reminded me of a conversation that He had had with me in the past
Jacob, I want more. more. more. "no worries God, BUT." I said. It was all good! God and I had a deal going, I was happy to give my life on my terms. I thought it was a great deal. God, you give me what I want (what i think I need), and I will give you my life, BUT...
It was not until one day when I felt so down I said to God "What's doing, I keep doing all this stuff and I still am unhappy!". I want more. Jacob. more. more.
OK to cut a long story short, I finally did give God more. more. more. And the peace of God that surpasses all undrestanding was mine.
Do you know what I mean. Peace, real peace. It is not too often that people experience real peace. The world and Satan has poluted the minds of real people, that real, genuine happiness is found in more. more. more 'for me'.
But when we realise that 'It's not about ME', and we realise that it is all about God wanting more.more.more. of Me, and we submit to God, then that peace that surpasses all understanding is headed our way...
Sometimes, it is easy to fall, and start forcussing on me a little too much, and I then remember my experiences in PNG.
These pictures put life in a bit of perspective. These pictures were only taken when I was in PNG last week organising our INVESTA TREKS building project for June. We are looking at going into this Settlement of 7000 people and building a Church. There is already a Salvo church community that has been meeting and so we want to encourage them and bless them serve them, and we will be Blessed.
If you are keen to Help or want more information go to www.salvos.org.au/INVESTATREKS and you can contact us through the website or get in touch.
These are real homes of different families. Where does this more.more.more fit in?
Blessings friends
