Hey all you groovers... well I guess it's my turn to share a little of who I am because this is my blog and after all that's what blogs are about. I've recently started as the Territorial Youth Inclusion Coordinator with the Territorial Youth Ministry Team. I am so excited about what God is doing and will continue to do in the future. I know there is so much more in store and with much anticipation I write this blog.
Before joining the youth team I was the Youth Pastor/ Ministry Assistant of Tuggerah Lakes Corps (TLC) for 4 ½ years. Over the course of time at TLC I loved hanging out with the kids and teens, not only hanging out but actually investing in their lives.
I used to get asked the question so what is it you actually you do? And this was by the young people I worked with. I had to actually think about it as I couldn't state simply what I did. So on reflection and prayer I came up with a statement of what I am about and what my heart is. My life is all about bringing hope and life to a broken generation.
This is what I aimed to do at TLC and what I continue to do in my new role here. I believe that in some way we are all broken, broken by sin, bad habits, teasing, bullying, and relational struggles. One thing I have found in my life is that healing comes when we find hope and life and for me the only place I have found hope and life is in relationship with Jesus.
For me hope is having a dream for the future, for this life and the next. It is having an expectant assurance of who we are and also having a reason to get up each morning.
Sometimes it can be hard to fit in and we may try some silly things to be accepted by friends or get the attention of parents. Jesus said that he would bring 'life to the max' for those who wanted it. When we have his life we can be comfortable that who we are is enough.
And so, I begin this new position with a greater passion to bring hope and life to a broken generation. So in short this is what I do...
So I ask you the question have you found hope and life for your life?? Does it make a difference? What difference does this make to you? Why not fill us in on the MORE facebook page?
