With at least 20-30 people and a large outdoor area.
The total cost for us was around $30
Arrange your group in to two even teams. It's important that there's an equal balance of height/weight/strength between the teams.
Each team is in possession of a flag, which is attached to the top of a long pole. Each team's objective is to try to topple the other team's pole and capture their flag, while also protecting their own flag by keeping their pole upright. Check out the clip below for an example.
Get leaders on both teams to play defense, crowding around the pole to try to keep it upright.
For safety's sake as much as anything else, a good rule is that teams cannot move their own pole and must always keep one end touching the ground.
It might look like a boys game, but the girls in our group (even the ones who normally sit out) were fully involved.
We also played a number of variations... attack vs. defence (uses only one pole) and leaders (defending) vs. youth (attacking).
Don't forget to do your risk assessment!
