Brand New - just starting out.

Development stage - 1yr to 5yrs.

Well established - has been running for over 5 yrs.

To be honest we don't really do anything intentional to reach new people.

We pray regularly that God would send new people but we are still waiting for breakthrough.

Some of our young people regularly bring friends along to events.

Our ministry has a strategy for meeting and integrating new people, and its working.

We regularly make connections with new young people but we struggle to link them into the ministry.

We haven't had a new person come along or make a decision in years.

We struggle to bring our new young people to a point of making a decision for Christ.

We are seeing our Christian youth taking responsibility for evangelism and as a result there are new faces almost every week and first-time decisions being made regularly.

It is slow but a handful of people make decisions every year.

Evangelism isn't a major focus at the moment but if somebody asks about salvation, we're very happy to share with them.

Primarily our youth ministry grows when kids move out of the children's ministry and into youth group age.

We haven't seen any decisions made for a while but we have a list of unsaved people that we are praying for and we are being intentional about seeing them come to know Christ.

Salvations are happening, primarily as the result of the youth leaders evangelising.

We are open to new people asking the leaders questions about God.

We regularly preach a basic gospel message followed by an altar call.

We encourage our Christian young people to talk to their friends about their faith.

We run information courses such as Youth Alpha, or newcomers classes at our church.

We take our young people to large scale evangelistic events eg. Big Exo Day at least twice a year.

Many of our leaders and Christian young people try to incorporate questions of faith into the everyday conversations we have with unsaved young people.

We encourage and train our Christian young people to form relationships with new people and take personal responsibility for including and involving them.

We would like to do more follow up of new people but struggle to for various reasons.

We try to build a welcoming environment and eliminate language and behaviour that would be confusing to new people.

We always get their contact details and phone or text within the week.

We invite each new person to join a LIFE group.

A leader is assigned to them for follow up.

We have Bible study during the week and we usually discuss a passage.

We don’t have any programs that directly use the Bible but we encourage our young people to read it.

It’s central to everything, we have young people memorising verses, we use it in LIFE groups, we preach from it at youth church etc.

We don’t have any Christian young people in our youth group but through his Word God is planting a vision in my heart for the young people.

None of them.

A few key young people.

About half our young people.

Most of our young people have a relationship with someone intentionally investing into their growth.

Discipleship happens in our LIFE groups, through fellowship with their peers.

The majority of growth occurs in the young people’s personal times with God. I know we have a core group of young people who are passionate about growing in their walk this way.

Sunday Services through the sermons and interaction with older Christians.

Prayer meetings.

Through ministry opportunities, our young people grow as they serve and use their gifts.

All those who have made decisions to follow Christ show evidence that they are healthy and growing in their faith.

There are a few keen young people that get it but the majority of young people seem to be simply along for the ride without committing to any responsibility for their faith.

Stale. There’s no evident fruit of discipleship in the young people.

There are some young Christians on the fringe who are not engaged with their faith but the majority of young people are switched on and are growing in their faith.

There are no Christian young people in my youth group.

Young people learn and grow in their faith by watching the leaders and catching their faith.

I would have to say no as there are no young people around to ask.

I would say yes but then probably have to eventually say no as all the young people pull out for various reasons.

I could pretty easily pull together a small group of volunteers who would work tirelessly despite being understaffed.

It wouldn’t be difficult to get a large percentage of our young people willing to serve for the night.

It’s a struggle to get anybody to do anything. The young people have a consumer attitude.

There are some young people that don’t fully understand their responsibilities as a Christian but the majority of our young people are all regularly involved in some form of service.

We have incorporated service opportunities into our weekly programming and the young people love it.

We have a few young people involved in some form of service but the majority are not.

We do the Red Shield Appeal each year, but don’t commit to much outside of that.

We don’t have any Christian youth and all our programs are focussed on non believers.

Many of our young people consistently model a selfless attitude and are prepared to make sacrifices for others.

A few of our young people make an effort to engage with people outside of their social group but the majority tend not to venture outside of their comfort zone.

The majority of our young people turn up for what they can get out of church and youth group.

We have many new Christians and don’t want to push them too early to undertake service opportunities.

We don’t pursue the young people with ways to serve as most of them are already overcommitted in their timetables.

We are now at a stage where many of our young people take initiative to get involved in causes they are passionate about.

We encourage and support our young people to be involved in Salvation Army projects such as STUMP, Red Shield Kids Camp etc as we find out about them.

Our church has many internal ministries for young people to get involved in and so we cannot make it a priority right now to involve our young people in projects outside of the church.

If we believe that a cause is worthy we encourage our young people to get involved and many of our young people have involvement in projects outside our denomination eg. 40 hour famine, missions trips, sponsor children.

The leaders encourage and promote opportunities to serve various causes but we don’t see it result in action from our young people.

I struggle to let go of authority so I make all the decisions and do all the work.

I am new in the position and have no support or help so I make all the decisions and do all the work.

I have a team of key leaders but mostly it’s me who does the work because they are either not competent or are time strapped.

I lead a team of key leaders who each contribute equally and have taken responsibility for the health of the ministry.

I currently have no other leaders but I have identified some young people who display leadership potential, and who I intend to develop and see them take on responsibilities in the future.

We haven’t thought about it too much but it will probably look similar to how it does now, hopefully with a few more kids.

We haven’t thought about it at all, we’re just trying to get by week to week at the moment.

We have discussed some dreams for the future but they probably won’t come to pass as there’s too much else to do.

We have big dreams for the future but are not sure how to put them into action.

We have dreams of what it could look like in 6 months, 1 year, 5 years etc and we have steps in place to, hopefully, see it happen.
