The Collaroy Centre exists to Save Souls, Grow Saints and Serve Humanity. This is who and why we are, and we are very passionate about our mission.
We program literally hundreds of camps in any one year, and they range from corporate training, through to school and sports camps, through to single mums and needy kids camps. These camps use our extensive on-site program facilities, which enable outdoor and environmental education. Activities include abseiling, high ropes, low ropes, initiative courses, adventure courses, archery, canoeing, and learn to surf.
Our most exciting camps are our two annual Red Shield Camps for disadvantaged kids. At the 2009 summer camp, out of 220 kids, we had all but seven make first-time commitments to Christ.
We also have an off-site program department that conducts camps and programs in remote and wilderness areas; doing treks, canyoning, caving, abseiling and more.
We are very intentional about sharing Christ and challenging people to his claim on their lives.
To be involved in any of our programmed camps you must be a committed Christian. You must also have a love for people and want them to be in a relationship with your Christ.
The responsibility is high as you need to not just lead kids to Christ, but more significantly, lead the Holy Spirit to these kids, so your lives need to be authentic.
There are two ways to be involved:
• Serve as a paid employee in our Program Department. You must be over 18 years of age to do this, and there are many vacancies for casuals in this area.
• Volunteer as a staff member on a Red Shield Camp. Minimum age is 16; staff over 18 can be group counsellors.
