What is Mission Team Project 1:8? Mission Team was created in 2001 from a vision to equip Salvos for mission and ministry. Since our beginning, we've pioneered the 24/7 year of prayer, run Unlimited and Love That Conferences in Brisbane, been an integral part of the Red Frog Crew for Schoolies Week on the Gold Coast and launched and run Project 1:8.
We believe in raising up the next generation, and so have sown into youth ministry across the Australia Eastern Territory.
Mission Team exists to raise workers for the harvest and we do this through a number of avenues, in particular Project 1:8. Since 2002 there have been over 20 Project 1:8 teams, from Schoolies Week on the Gold Coast, to teams serving in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, India, PNG, Fiji and more - we are sending out new teams every year. In 2006 we launched Project 1:8 Amplify - a six-month mission especially designed to 'Amplify' the Project 1:8 experience.

Most Project 1:8 trips are open to people aged 18 years or older, who are currently committed to and serving in their local church.
In June-July 2010, Mission Team is offering an opportunity to engage in mission through Project 1:8 South Africa. For two weeks during the Soccer World Cup, you could spend time serving in South Africa, ministering to youth and children, assisting in running soccer and life skills workshops, while falling in love with the people you meet. While applications are officially closed, if you are interested in being short listed, (meaning a spot will become available if someone pulls out) application packs can be found here.

Mission Team is also a part of The Salvation Army International Development Office, or SAID. One of the great things they've got is a "Gifts that keep on giving" catalogue.
You can purchase a gift from the catalogue, and by doing so, give hope, freedom, dignity and a future to poor and disadvantaged individuals and communities around the world.
Next time you're wondering what to buy Grandma for her birthday, why not buy her a water tank, toilet, toy, goat, sewing machine, wheelchair, blanket or book? Prices start at $10. You even get a card to give to her that says what you bought for someone else on her behalf!
