Comments Policy

For the safety of our visitors, all comments on salvos.org.au/more are moderated before appearing on the site. This moderation is carried out manually by approved Salvation Army staff members.

As moderation is manual, it is subject to regular Australian business hours. If posts are made outside of business hours (e.g. evenings or weekends), your comment will be posted on the next business day. During peak times delays may unfortunately occur. Please wait 24 hours before enquiring about the status of your post.

Moderation is not about censorship of ideas or opinions but about preserving the integrity and safety of this online space. You are welcome and encouraged to contribute any idea, opinion or feedback to this site, even it is to express disagreement with an official Salvation Army position, but any form of bullying or abuse will not be tolerated.

The following outlines typical actions that could result in your comment being declined for publishing:

  • Insulting, bullying or abusing others (It's possible to disagree without needing to call another person 'stupid', 'idiot' or 'loser')
  • Making statements that discriminate against other users or groups
  • Trolling behaviour (posting inflammatory statements purely to offend others)
  • Rude, vulgar or pornographic content
  • Promotion of illegal or unsafe activities, including promoting drug use or underage drinking
  • Advertising products or services
  • Soliciting of personal information from another commenter
  • Using the site to arrange a meeting with another commenter
  • Any other content that a moderater deems could result in phyisical, mental or emotional harm to another user of the site.

Moderating decisions are made at the discretion of the moderator in accordance with these guidelines. Blatant violation of these guidelines will result in your comment being declined with no explanation given.

Minor or accidental infringements will result in the moderator either:

  • Posting an edited version of your comment with a clearly marked 'EDITED DUE TO...' tag, or
  • Issuing a personal email outlining the infringement and inviting the comment author to resubmit their post
