What does it cost?

Training Contribution: This is $2000 per cadet per year and children are free. This includes morning tea and lunch for cadets, accommodation, officer education costs and child care for pre-schoolers.

College Expenses: As a cadet you will need to purchase Salvation Army uniforms and some text books. While there are computers available for use in the library many cadets do prefer to bring their own. Uniforms can cost between $500 - $1000 depending on what you already own. Books are available in the library for your use, but if you prefer to own them they can cost between $200 - $400.

Ongoing Personal Expenses: While at college you will need to have money to support your expenses such as car rego/insurance, mobile phone, holidays, entertainment, school fees/excursions etc. (kids). Each cadet needs to calculate this recognising their own circumstance and level of centre link/austudy payments. Use our budget form to help you calculate your expenses.

Income Opportunities: Once at college and as an Officer you are not permitted to undertake any part-time employment, however, most cadets are able to receive Austudy and various government family allowances. Depending on your circumstances, these benefits may offset your training expenses.
