Delve 2009

 

 

The Salvation Army's Collaroy Centre was where 45 delegates from four divisions gathered for our territory's first "Delve - Exploring Officership" weekend.  The weekend was held specifically for people to explore whether God may be leading them towards officership in The Salvation Army.

 

An officer ministry team was also at the weekend to come alongside delegates, answer questions as well as share their own journeys through officership. They shared about appointment changes, family life, spiritual life, their frustrations and joys.

 

 

 

Several officers from the training college were also available to answer queries about college life, study schedule etc.

 

 

 

Delegates worked through a series of specially written personal devotions over the weekend and then were encouraged to share in groups about what God was saying to them. Also included through the weekend was information on how The Salvation Army supports its officers, the appointment process as well as future plans for our territory, and ministry opportunities for officers.

 

One delegate commented,

     "It was an excellent concept - even having been very active in the Salvos for 35 years, it gave me insights and information I wasn't aware of, and a unique, up-front, authentic opportunity to consider officership and/or full-time ministry in my own life.

     "I appreciated and valued the 'officer journeys', the honesty, and transparency.  This was only valuable because of their openness without which the interviews would have been pointless - so thank-you"

     "I found the devotions challenging and honest.  I loved sharing honestly with others"  

     "Devotions were great, fitted into the rest of the weekend.  Great to talk them over with other people who are experiencing the same thing"

     "Delve was great.  I think it achieved what I felt it had set out to do.  I feel encouraged and it helped me grow.  I feel inspired to get back in the mission field a new person - I am believing more radical, more passionate and much more surrendered"

     "Although I'm sure of my call to officership, I found the weekend extremely beneficial: socially, spiritually and provided answers"

     "Every session impacted my life
