1 Corinthians 4:20

'For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God's power.' (NLT)

Each week I meet with Lisa. We read a chapter of the bible and discuss it using the S.O.A.P (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) method to apply it to our lives. Last week, we read 1 Corinthians Chapter 4.

This chapter is describing Paul's relationship with the Corinthians, but this verse was a little gem for me. Living by God's power!! A concept in the past I haven't reflected on all that much. I asked myself this question: What does it mean to live by God's power?

This is what God lead me too:

i) Strengthened by Christ living within us

ii) Living above circumstances - a life of contentment

iii) Obedience to Christ

Wow!! I can so easily talk and talk and talk, without conviction or conscious - I need acknowledge God more. To live in God's power is to be strengthened by him, be content and live above all circumstances, and be obedient to Christ - living according to his word, bringing him honour and glory.

So, what now? Everyday I want to live a life centred in God's power. At times it will be difficult, but I will persevere (as this will produce character). It is the Kingdom of God I am seeking.

Lord, help us to live for your Kingdom every moment of everyday. May we be quick to remember your faithfulness when it gets tough. May we continue to live in the love, grace & peace you give. Praise your name. Amen.
