STUMP

Spend a week living at an inner-city Salvation Army centre and see poverty and injustice with your own eyes.

Plenty of people want do something about poverty and injustice but knowing how to start is often the hardest part. STUMP is your entry point to get exposed not just to the issues but to real people who face them every day.

What is STUMP?

STUMP stands for Short Term Urban Mission Project. It's a week of serving and doing life with some of Australia's most poor and marginalised people.

For a week you'll live in the heart of the inner city and will have the chance to be hands-on with the work the Salvos are doing every day - helping in a community centre, visiting local residents, working alongside at-risk young people, and simply being a friend to people forgotten by the rest of society.

You'll also get relevant teaching and training in areas such as homelessness, mental health issues, alcohol and other drug abuse, boundaries and suicide intervention and prevention. On top of that, you'll get to witness how faith in Jesus plays a vital part in The Salvation Army's response to these issues.

You'll experience a side of our country you've never seen before, and will come away impacted, challenged and equipped to start making a difference when you get back home.

STUMP is currently opreating in both Brisbane and Sydney.

Cost

Individuals are asked to make a $250 contribution. This fee covers all of your accommodation, food, training, transport and administration costs during the week. (Not including any flights or other transport costs to and from STUMP.)
