How The Course Operates

The Edify Internship is a rollercoaster year of service, relationship building, challenge and celebration, but there is a core structure. Interns will have their time divided between three main activities, Accredited Training, Non-Accredited Training (Discipleship) and Church / Community Work.
"Edify is ensuring the church doesn't take its eyes off our call to the lost, last and least and salvation for one second, the benchmark for practitioner-based discipleship" - Craig Stephens
ACCREDITED TRAINING
Certificate IV in Youth Work (CHC41808)
Interns will undertake accredited training in the context of one of Australia's premier youth services, the Oasis Youth Support Network, featured in the critically acclaimed 2008 documentary, The Oasis. Edify’s Certificate IV in Youth Work is a nationally recognised qualification that will make you employable within any youth specific service or organisation within Australia. The course offers a holistic training approach to youth work, from a Christian worldview, and combines classroom teaching with 'real world' practical experience in a diverse range of contexts.
Your teachers and trainers are highly qualified practitioners with a wealth of experience, including Captains Paul and Robbin Moulds AM. Interns will be required to attend weekly classes and complete all assessments over a period of nine months to meet the requirements of the certificate.
NON-ACCREDITED TRAINING
Domestic Mission - Engaging Culture
Mission is not just for overseas. Mission is required in our backyard of Australia as well! Interns will be equipped with the skills to engage with the changing culture of the city through the message of Jesus. Interns will also have the opportunity to engage through mission placements and activities in a diverse range of contexts. Additionally, the history and mission of The Salvation Army will be taught to give a perspective of how God has used this movement to accomplish His redemptive work in the world.
Theology - Worldview
A follower of Jesus understands the importance of the Biblical story and how it shapes and affects the way they see the world. Theology and Worldview aims to give Interns a better grasp of understanding the grand themes of the Bible as the true story of the world. Yet there is another story shaping the world and its culture, that being the story of progress in the West through globalism, economics and technology. Through analysis, discussion and teaching, Interns will probe the complex issue of living at the crossroads of the Biblical story in the midst of contemporary western culture.
Spiritual Formation - Personal Development
Over the course of 10 months, this training will look specifically at the Intern’s spirituality, character, growth and discipleship. Expect times of prayer, silence, solitude, missional activity, reflection, journaling and an external mentor to help you process your experiences throughout the Internship.
